About Living Simulations
Living Simulations is a company dedicated to creating immersive, interactive simulations that empower individuals to explore and understand complex biological systems. Our slogan is: 'Embrace Your Explorer Within'. We leverage generative AI to develop universal simulations — biomedicine without silos.
Our products, Corpusim and BodyZoomer, offer dynamic tools for medical education and treatment development. Corpusim provides comprehensive simulations of human biology, while BodyZoomer offers interactive maps of the body at any scale, from organ systems to organelles. By merging gaming engagement with medical science rigor, we transform how knowledge is acquired and applied.

Founder and Lead Dev
Derek has an inner world of technological optimism and aesthetic wonder, and he strives to make it reality.
His greatest engineering passion is 3D Interactive Graphics (3DIG / video game tech). His deepest principles are human flourishing and absolute personal sovereignty.
Corpusim is the application of 3DIG toward deep understanding - and thus command - of our own biology.
Julia Scherer
Outreach Manager
Julia Scherer excels at simplifying complex concepts, writing, organizing, and bringing new ideas to life. Harnessing and expanding her extensive network of contacts and professional experience as a fundraiser and teacher, she now redeploys her skill stack in service of Corpusim.
Demelash Areda, PhD
OUAZ Professor of Biology
Demelash is leading a pilot study on using Corpusim to help teach microbiology, especially in understanding viral replication and DNA processes.
With extensive academic credentials in veterinary medicine, food safety, public health, and epidemiology, Demelash brings a unique interdisciplinary approach to his work.
He’s passionate about lifelong learning and continually seeks new knowledge and skills in microbiology and infectious disease research.

UMKC Researchers
Yugi and Jawad are guiding and optimizing Corpusim's data analytics and machine learning capabilities for AI interactivity and sim generation.
Yugi specializes in big data analytics, distributed computing, and medical informatics, while Jawad focuses on machine learning, deep learning, and predictive modeling.
Their combined expertise ensures that Corpusim stays at the cutting edge of technology and innovation.
Julie Edge, PhD
Julie is assisting us with grant proposals and other business aspects.
With her background in small business development, Julie brings a wealth of knowledge to help organizations streamline operations and achieve growth without sacrificing personal well-being.

Carl David Frailey, PhD
A&P Advisor
Carl’s deep understanding of anatomy and physiology and 30+ years teaching A&P to future doctors, nurses, and medical practitioners make him the ideal science advisor.
He is the author of 41 publications in vertebrate paleontology with 1,517 citations.
He took numerous zoological expeditions to the Amazon and is the discoverer of the largest crocodile in history.
